LMBS and Institute of Hospitality cement links

The third annual London Metropolitan Business School (LMBS) and Institute of Hospitality Annual event took place in the Graduate Centre on 30 October.

The event was a chance for staff and students to meet and discuss industry issues with industry professionals and members of the Institute of Hospitality’s London branch.

Pat Wood, Academic Leader for LMBS opened the proceedings and introduced the main speaker Peter Lederer, CBE, FIH, MI, Managing Director of Gleneagles Hotel Ltd and President of the Institute of Hospitality, who gave an informative and inspirational lecture on Today’s Challenges of Hotel Management Leadership.

Peter Lederer said: ‘Leadership and management skills, as well as the ability to change, are fundamental in creating a true quality culture, however where a manager simply solves problems, a leader creates problems that are worth solving.’

The event was organised by Ioannis Pantelidis, Course Leader of the MA in International Hotel and Restaurant Management. Ioannis said: ‘We wish to express our thanks to Peter Lederer for his inspiring speech, as well as the Chairman of the London Branch, Antonio Fernandez and the Chief Executive of the Institute, Philippe Rossiter both of whom have supported these events for the past few years. The event has been a great success and we’ve had a lot of positive feedback from students.’

The Institute of Hospitality is the professional body for managers - and aspiring managers - working in the hospitality, leisure and tourism industries. It focuses on education and has strong links with London Metropolitan University.
