SIFE Londonmet; Employability Week Success story
The London Metropolitan team of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) organised the employability week which was held between 31st March and 2nd April. The first two days saw a number of industry professionals delivering talks, seminars and workshops focusing on the development of student employability skills. The final day provided a forum for students to engage and network with a number of high profile companies.
The event saw over 4500 hits on the team’s viral videos and hundreds of students attending the sessions. The week was such a success that students commented “one of the best employability events I have been to” another student said “I really enjoyed this the sessions were so informative and the whole event so well organised. I really hope they do this again next year”. A number of the industry presenters were so impressed by the event they joined the business advisory board of the Londonmet SIFE team. the Dean of LMBS, Bob Morgan said to the organising team “well done for an extremely professionally organised event”.
One of the highlights of the Employability Week has been a competition sponsored by the One & All Foundation, which offered three winners a place on One & All’s highly valuable Hospitality Mentoring Programme.
The successful applicants will join a 6-month programme with professional mentors from the hospitality industry. They will meet successful business people within the hospitality industry on a monthly basis to discuss their career, personal goals and ways to approach work and life.

The One & All foundation would like to thank all the participants and we are looking forward to working with the winners of the competition in the next 6 months.
The SIFE Londonmet team competed successfully during the SIFE UK Regional Round and on Wednesday 22nd April and Thursday 23rd April 2009, will be presenting their achievements at the National SIFE competition at the Britannia International Hotel in London. The competition gives the students and their universities recognition for their hard work during the academic year. It also enables students to meet business leaders and network with them and with each other.
